General terms and conditions of providing
accomodation services in the HI Hostels of Croatian Youth Hostel Association
1.INTRODUCTORY PROVISIONS
HI hostel offers accommodation and catering services to the users who are members of the international network Hostelling International. The types of services and the price list are available on the official webpage of the Croatian HI Hostel Association, www.hicroatia.com, together with the General Terms and Conditions of Providing Accommodation Services.
The provisions of General Terms and Conditions are applied to the service contractor no matter if they are also the end user or not. By accepting the HI hostel’s written offer and/or making the down payment (advance payment), the service contractor accepts General Terms and Conditions, and above mentioned represents legal and formal agreement conclusion.
2.ACCOMMODATION BOOKING AND PAYMENT
2.1. After placing the initial request for the booking, the service contractor is considered to be the booking holder. All further documents carry the booking holder’s name, i.e. name and surname of the person or company’s name. By filling and sending the request for booking, the booking holder confirms to be authorized for the reservation in the name of the guest(s) and that all guests agree to these General Terms and Conditions. When making a booking, the booking holder is liable to present all information requested in the booking procedure.
2.2. The booking holder is responsible for all payments of the reserved and used services, unless agreed otherwise in written form. The reservation is valid only after the HI hostel issues a written confirmation i.e. after receiving the down payment (advance payment) paid towards the given offer.
Unless the down payment (advance payment) is received until the date agreed on the HI hostel’s offer, the booking is considered cancelled and non-binding for the HI hostel. Booking holder is liable to pay the total price of the service no later than 24 hours before service user’s arrival, if the user is an individual service user, or no later than seven (7) days before service user’s arrival in case the user is a group. In the case of non-payment of the remaining amount before the service user’s arrival, the booking is considered cancelled
and the booking holder shall reimburse all the total expenses of the cancellation.
3. BOOKING HOLDER’ S CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS
3.1. If the booking holder wishes to change the booking, it shall do it exclusively in the written form and within the following deadlines:
- For an individual guest: 2 days (48 hours) before the arrival;
- For the group of 9 to 20 persons: 14 days before the arrival;
- For the group of 21 to 40 or more persons: 28 days before the
3.2. If the booking holder wishes to cancel the booking entirely, it shall be done exclusively in the written form and within the following deadlines, with the reservation cancellation cost calculation according to the following deadlines and percentages:
- 15 % of the total agreed price 31 days preceding the date of arrival;
- 30% of the total agreed price 30 to 22 days preceding the date of arrival;
- 50% of the total agreed price 21 to 15 days preceding the date of arrival;
- 80% of the total agreed price 14 to 8 days preceding the date of arrival;
- 100 % of the total agreed price 7 to 0 days preceding the date of arrival.
In case the entire HI hostel’s capacity is fully booked, the deadlines shall be shortened for 5 days.
4. CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY THE HI HOSTEL
In case the HI hostel has to change or cancel the booking, it shall notify the booking holder in the shortest possible period, no later than 30 days preceding the agreed date of arrival.
5. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Service user’s check-in (admission) is usually between 1PM and 6PM of the first day of the reserved service. Arrival after 6PM must be previously announced. The time of the checkout is until 10AM on the day of departure.
6. GUEST’S OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A guest shall conform to HI hostel’s house rules. The house rules are available on the HI hostel’s reception.
A guest shall preserve the assets, as well as all the furniture, equipment and HI hostel environment. A guest is responsible for any kind of damage, and is liable to reimburse the damage immediately after determining it, no later than checking-out from the HI hostel.
7. HI HOSTEL’S OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HI hostel is liable to attend to providing service, as well as rights and interests of the service user according to common conventions in tourism. HI hostel shall fulfil all the obligations entirely and in accordance with agreed services, its standards, in good faith and in accordance with the rules of the profession, except in extraordinary circumstances which it can not influence on (natural disasters and other force majeure).
8. OBJECTIONS
If the service end-user has a justified reason for objection, they shall refer to the reception staff. The reception staff shall proceed after the objection and solve it in cooperation with the user. In case the reception staff can not solve the objection, it shall be written and signed by the service user.
9. ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Additional services are services which are not included in the price of the agreed services. A guest will be asked to pay for them upon usage, but no later than checking-out from the HI hostel.
10. JURISDICTION
Contracting the service between the service contractor and the HI hostel, as well as the service usage, is based on Croatian legal regulations. In case of a dispute which can not be settled by negotiation, the case shall be under the jurisdiction of the authorized court in Zagreb.
11. METHODS OF PAYMENT
- Payment per offer – transaction to CYHA’s IBAN in Croatian kunas or Euros for foreign payments
- Cash in Croatian kunas at hostel reception upon arrival
- Credit cards: Maestro, Visa, MasterCard
- The following applies to groups: confirmation of reservation is considered to be payment in the amount of 30% of the amount of the offer. The remaining 70% of the amount of the offer must be paid before the group arrives.
